What is the jungle?

Jungle Survival Drivers Training is a unique drivers training program with several distinct aspects that separate it from other drivers training programs.

Proactive Situational driving focus - Situational driving is vital to surviving in the jungle. Using the Jungle Survival Checklist, students learn to be proactive drivers by learning how to identify developing situations which may develop into problems. We don't want our young drivers to react to a problem. We want them to learn how to anticipate what could happen in a given situation and make the necessary adjustments to avoid a possible close call.

Parental involvement - Sometimes the parents are the wild animals and their teens are their offspring. Their teens come to us so we can tame and train them to understand and apply the Jungle Way of driving. We then return them to their parents and unfortunately, they make their teens wild again. Many times the teens follow their parents' driving habits, whether for better or worse.

In an effort to have a greater level of effectiveness in producing effective and proactive Jungle drivers, Jungle trains the parents along with their teens. Parents are required to achieve 9 goals which include attendance of a training session before the class begins. Parents are taught the same material as their students. This enables them to continue to reinforce the Jungle curriculum once their teen completes their Jungle training. We have found If parents are unaware of what their teens were taught they will inadvertently contradict the Jungle Way of driving.

Unique approach - With our unique state-approved curriculum, students learn the keys to Situational Driving in the jungle environment. Our year-round classes are motivational, fun and highly interactive.

Community - When a student enrolls in the Jungle, both the parents and the student become part of the Jungle Community. If either the parent or the student feels the student needs more instruction behind the wheel, they can come back and drive with an instructor at any time for free. Parental Responsibilities

At the Jungle, we work hard to get parents involved in the driver education process. There are 10 objectives that we hope each parent meets in order to best prepare their teen for operating an automobile.

  1. Attend the Parent/Student workshop (held the Sunday before Segment 1 classes begin).
  2. Take the Space & Visibility at-home test with teen (the same defensive driving test teens take in class).
  3. Take an observation ride with your student and a Jungle Trainer during Segment 1.
  4. Complete the Jungle In-Car Evaluation Checklist and Behind The Wheel & Observation Record Keeping Form during the first 6 times you drive with your teen after Segment 1 is completed.
  5. Reinforce Jungle driving goals for 30 rides after student graduates from Segment 1.
  6. Return for Segment 2 3 months after the completion of Segment 1
  7. Not allow your student to drive with friends during the first 6 months of driving alone.
  8. Never allow your student to use a cell phone while driving.
